Allison M. and her Dog, one of our Success Stories at the Bridge, came to us after becoming homeless. She left her physically abusive husband; after he became physically abusive three weeks into their marriage. They became drug addicts together.
After she left and divorced him, she started living in motels in Plano, TX. But not long after, she could not afford the motel or her addiction. So, she and her Dog ended up homeless. They were living in the streets of Dallas.
Allison knew about The Bridge and knew that this organization would help her and her Dog to solve her situation.
Once Allison got to The Bridge, she was connected with a Care Manager and started her recovery process.
Even her Dog benefited from the services at The Bridge; the Dog had excellent care in our Kennel Facilities; he was socialized and learned good behavior.
Now she can take her Dog on enjoyable walks; he does not fight and is friendly to people and other dogs.
With more help from Peer Support, she was able to get sober and live a healthier lifestyle.
Finally, she got a job at a Boarding facility where she helps animals from Monday to Saturday.
