Involvement in Black Women in Nonprofit Leadership Cohort

We are excited to announce that our very own Development Manager, Cynthia Thompson, has been chosen to be a part of the Dallas Truth, Racial Healing, and Transformation’s (TRHT) new Black Women in Non-profit Leadership Cohort!

The cohort is a group where Black women can come to develop professionally and personally, build network with one another and within the sector, and have a safe healing space that provides opportunity for courageous conversations crafted and specific to the needs of black women leaders.

Dallas TRHT has offered multiple means to acknowledging and supporting Black individuals in our current racial environment, including Guests at The Bridge Homeless Recovery Center. This new cohort is unique in that it’s acknowledging specifically Black females and the everyday life experiences they face with emphasis on providing support with how to deal with the specific injustices they face as they lead their non-profit organization.

Cynthia’s involvement in the group will provide access to training, education and support on issues related to mental health and black women, navigating the nonprofit sector as a woman, imposter syndrome, racial healing, time management, avoiding cultural bias, plus more.

“I am truly excited and grateful to have this opportunity from Dallas TRHT,” Cynthia said. “I can’t wait to experience this virtual training ground along with other Black women who are servant leaders in this community. I anticipate that each month will pour in another level of lessons so that we can experience a full transformation past injustices and elevate others in the process.”

Not only will Cynthia benefit from this cohort, but she will gain invaluable experience and knowledge that she can share with other staff and Guests at The Bridge who experience these same things. We are excited to continue learning how to better support Black individuals and Black women in the homeless network and are grateful for the support of Dallas TRHT.
